Genre: Christian Romantic Suspense
The Analysis:
This is the first novel I’ve read of its kind. I’m slowly breaking into the Christian romance genre as a reader. A Brother’s Bond By Lee Tobin McClain lets book review it.
Heres the Blurb:
Dying on a frigid mountain in a snowstorm wasnβt Karen Smithβs plan. Finding out who killed her brother nine years ago was. But a rockslide put her goal of solving the cold case on ice, even if the heroic stranger who rescued her warms her heart.
Sworn to protect his sister and keep the events of nine years earlier from ever seeing the light of day, disabled veteran Adam Calloway finds himself stranded in his remote mountain getaway with the one person who could blow his sisterβs secret wide open. But as Karen gets closer to the truth that could put his sister behind bars, someone outside the cabin sets it ablaze, attempting to kill them both.
With the storm raging and threats escalating, Adam and Karen depend upon one another to get out alive. Can Adam salvage his growing bond with the one woman who can destroy his family?

So I enjoyed this novel. There romance came across as realistic and God centered. The danger was also believable. Somewhere, the book grabbed my attention and didn’t let go until I had managed to read the whole thing in one day. Although, in general it is a short read.
An accident sends Karen right to the door step of the people she needs to investigate in order to figure out what happened in her brother’s death. But Adam and his sister are withholding a secret from her that will make it impossible for her to do so. The reveal at the end was also surprising.
Adam and Karen soon realize that they like each other a lot. But there’s too many things standing in between this budding romance. Including the one other thing more important to Adam then himself and that was his sister.
His actions to her versus his sister bothered me. Some of his anger towards Karen although understanding in the beginning also bothered me. Then there was some things that my secular mind couldn’t understand that aren’t worth mentioning here.

*The romance although great is muted from what I’m normally used to reading in both Steamy and Sweet Romances. However, Christian Romance readers may find it normal. And it didn’t stop my enjoyment of the book.
