The Analysis:
I love this woman. And this book solidified at least for me, K Webster as the new V.C. Andrews. I wish I wrote more like her. Enzo by K Webster, lets book review it.
Heres the Blurb:
Forced to be tough, wary, and hard.
She’s only been able to count on herself.
Until Enzo.
He’s much older and responsible for looking after her.
What should be a job to him, evolves into much more.
Late night phone calls.
Lingering touches.
A forbidden fire that burns brighter each day.
Everything about him exudes strength.
His will to protect her is more than she could ever ask for.
Sadly, though, even heroes have their limitations.
But she doesn’t need a hero.
She just needs him.

Looking back on the book as a whole, I can’t help but feel like the taboo romance was secondary to the main theme. That is, of a girl coming of age in the foster care system. Who is taking care of a baby, that she literally takes underneath her wing.
Now here is why that’s not a bad thing. The relationship between the heroine and her sister. Eventually daughter is so well written that it brings me to tears on at least two separate occasions. I feel for the heroines pain when she thinks that she is going to lose this precious little girl. The troubles that she is going through, bouncing from home to home, seem so real. As well as the social workers response that starvation just isn’t enough reason to remove them from a home without some just cause. Talk about some hold your breath moments.
The ending is wrapped up nicely. Although, I have to admit I didn’t too much care about the marriage of the two characters. I did skip a few pages just to check on the kids.
I appreciate the nice guy act as well. The hero recognized his feelings for the girl and decided to wait until she was old enough. And at every turn he recognized that she was still young and didn’t want to taint her decision making. Really sweet. So sweet you just know this guy doesn’t exist in real life lol.
