Genre: Science Fiction Romance
Disclaimer: Reading is all about discovery, but this Book Review does not shy away from spoiling specific scenes as this is more of a look inside the good and bad of a book.
The Analysis:
Pretty much everyone I follow on BookTube has recommended this book a time or two. I pretty much ignored it until I read, Saving Askara. Then I needed another alien fix and decided to try out the OG. The Blurbs for all these books are terrible. Let’s Book Review, #1-#7
Here’s the Blurb:
And the only native inhabitant I've met? He's big, horned, blue, and really, really has a thing for me...

This book comes out the gate swinging with smutty scenes and the plot is thin. The Alien had Georgia at lick me. But there is enough plot to leave one intrigued as to what happens to the other girls. And at the end of the day, I just want to learn how easy or hard it is for the other girls to assimilate. No, I'm not staying for the sex, scouts honor.

Awww, now this is exactly what I wanted. Liz is snarky, funny. She doesn't take no guff. And she was mated with a hunter with a heart of stone but is secretly a teddy bear. She is also not like the other girls. She doesn't want to knit scarves. She wants to go out and hunt and fish, and eventually, she gains his respect. But he stole her. The punishment for this made me look at Georgie and Vektal from book 1, differently. I thought they were too harsh. And I thought Georgie was operating like a robot just going along with her king. Even though she was credited with getting him to change his mind. However, the lengths Liz went through to be with her man, A++

Kira is the Eeyore of the group to Liz's Tigger. And as a bit of a reformed pessimist, I related to all her worries as I'd probably have them too. This book she was allowed to be the hero as she had to fight off the aliens that had originally taken them. I cheered for this, now knowing that Georgie wasn't the only hero in the group. I also appreciated her alien boo, who handled her shyness with ease and really saw her as a person.

Skipped it. This girl has to share her story of love with Georgie's pregnancy and I was just not interested. There is nothing to Georgie's personality outside of being the Queen to the Alien King. But I can say by this point that I'm staying up into the night to finish the books. They've got me hooked.

For most of the book, I sympathize with Tiffany's plight of being a rape victim. And I absolutely adore how sensitive her alien is being in response to her revelation. Their sex scenes are integral to her healing. However, I strongly disagreed with her going along with the competition out of fear. She has a right to heal in whatever methods she feels will help. She has no right to allow her hurts to harm someone else. And the competition revealed itself to be cruel. Not only for her Alien. But for the other participants as well who turned against family and friends to win her.

Skipped it. I chose to believe the reviews on Goodreads that her response to her alien was unjustifiable and thus not worth reading. I did read the first two chapters though. And I did get the sense that her anger with resonating with him wasn't based on much. At least, there was not enough scenes to explain this mutual anger they had for each other.

Thoughts Heading into Next Seven:
We're running out of girls, aren't we? I know there are 22 books in this series. But I can't imagine where these girls are coming from. I can't remember how many were found in the ship now. At least the first seven had to be all the extras who weren't in the pods. I'm also starting to forget which girl is which. And which alien is which? Sometimes, I'll go to Goodreads (for the reviews) and refresh my memories on who did what in what book. I'm guessing the next seven are the girls that were being held in the pods in book 1.
This book isn't that deep? We don't get a lot of world-building. I'd love to hear more about Tiffany's farming. It's a missed opportunity that the stories don't explore the differences between an alien pregnancy and a human one in more detail. One of the girls is a mechanic. I'd love to hear more about her efforts to make them more caves by following the instructions of a spaceship manual. The girls are more than their romances. And how they change this society is just as important as how they fall in love.
Would you recommend this series? Yes, but not to guys. Sorry, this isn't a book for guys. It's light, fluffy, and yes smutty. Not typically things guys look for in books. If you want to hook the hubby or bf on the craze, try Saving Askara, book 1.
