Genre: Contemporary Romance
Disclaimer: Reading is all about exploring, but this Book Review does not shy away from spoiling specific scenes as this is more of a look inside the good and bad of a book.
The Analysis:
I chose to read this book because of the cover, but it’s been on my Kindle for a while. So, let’s book review it.
Here’s the Blurb:
Noah Pratt has led a privileged life, able to buy whatever and whomever he wants. The only blemish on that perfect record was a heartbreak at the hands of his sister’s best friend years ago. She’s the reason he holds a ruthless attitude towards women. When she shows up in his office in need, he sees an opportunity to get vengeance.
Noah’s offer to bail Eve out exceeds her expectations. But there’s a stipulation in the contract that forces her to face the reality of why she left him. They’re locked in a battle of wills and heart. When her secret is discovered, she risks losing everything. And Noah just may lose the only woman he’s ever loved…again.

In the beginning, Noah was so bossy and demanding, he gave me anxiety. I couldn’t imagine anything likable about him. Even though, it was established clearly that they both still had feelings for each other and were acting out of hurt. The alpha male thing just didn’t work for me in this story.
The author tries to create a bit of intrigue by withholding the main proposal from the reader, the surrogacy, to chapter 3. I would have preferred for this story to just jump right in, after all, it is a novella.
One of the main problems could’ve been solved by a thorough facebook search. Its revealed that Noah believes Eve cheated on him, with a man revealed to be her cousin. Any person on a drunk night perusing social media could have figured that out.
Side note: I cheered when Noah put his sister in her place. It was harsh though.
Theirs too much-hiding things from the reader. For the majority of the book, we don’t know why Eve originally broke up with Noah, and it’s kind of annoying. It’s just romance, not a book on espionage. Yet, when the secret was revealed I wasn’t completely surprised. It could only be a couple of reasons anyway.
I rolled my eyes when the truth was revealed and she went missing. That was just a lil too convenient. But it did wrap up nicely.
A good introduction to the author. There were little nagging things throughout the book I disliked, so I deducted a point. But nothing that rendered this read unenjoyable. It kept my interest and was written well. So, I’d pick up another book by this author if I crossed something interesting.
