Genre: Contemporary Romance
Disclaimer: Reading is all about discovery, but this Book Review does not shy away from spoiling specific scenes as this is more of a look inside the good and bad of a book.
The Analysis:
So, I stumbled through two books before landing on this one. I originally wanted to read something with a science fiction tint, but everything I ran across in my tbr list was over 1000 pages. I’m groaning inwardly, like, I’m not ready for some epic saga. So, I found myself back in contemporary romance land. Let’s book review it.
Here’s the Blurb:
The cover is just, okay. Its perfect for the genre. Nothing special about it stands out to me. But its not what drew me in. The title did that alone. Weirdly, I also didn’t notice the book said Part One, until halfway into it.

This book made me laugh.
I loved the female main character. This story is told from dual pov of both the male and female characters. Her meet cute with the hero was through several mishap events. At one point, I thought to myself, this lady is going to accidentally kill the male main character with all her goofy attack first, ask questions later antics. But it all served to keep me reading and was entertaining.
The billionaire chose her because she was an actress, but through these mishap meetings of theirs, he also realized they got some chemistry there too. When he approached her with the fake romance proposal she turned it down. Only to turn to her best friend, all shocked with righteous indignation. Her friend was like, well can I do it. I’m like, yes girl, I’m with you.
After she finally agrees spurred on by an eviction notice. There is a tender moment that’s too quick and played too lightly. The male main character dispels some myths about his playboy dating life. Its meant to reveal a sore spot/pain point. Yet its completely glossed over. They don’t really know each other yet to really dig into that. But I think I just expected a little more emotion from both on that point. Even if it was a vague, I don’t care enough about him, moment. It was revisited later, but not to my liking. It can also be said that the male main character does come across as a little light in the development portion of this writing.
At some point, it also seemed like the billionaire fell hard and fast in love, way before the heroine. Which I wanted to be mad at, but art imitates life lol. Many women can claim the same in their own relationships. She was no gold digger. Let’s take it slow, was her middle name. She was enjoying the fancy dates, but she wasn’t sure if he was the one. Is he just a playboy? Is there more to him than all this pomp and circumstance? She took her time figuring it out. And she never denied their chemistry. She only denied that she should allow it to lead her straight into a bad marriage. Respect.
The marriage proposal wasn’t an uber romantic display in front of millions of people. It was in front of a charity event like party. However, when I read it, it seemed realistic. Like something that might happen in real life. His words were genuine as was her shock to be proposed to in such a fashion. It was true to the characters.
I loved the nod to TMZ and the reality that they would play in a circumstance like this when a commoner is married to a man with such status. It was well written. Sounded exactly like something I might see on that show. I used to be a fan, but stopped watching, when I instituted this no gossip rule over my life.
This book does end on a cliffhanger. All the books are out now. But believe my book review and don’t trip just jump into some reading goodness.
