Genre: Dark Romance
The Analysis:
Doing another deep dive with K Webster in This Isn’t You, Baby. Does giddy little, happy dance in my chair, I am excited. This lady knows how to deliver. I haven’t been excited about a new author in a long time. I’m also reading this series out of order lol, lets book review it.
Heres the Blurb:
Weak and someone easily manipulated.
To be played with as he saw fit.
Until YOU.
YOU shone light in my now dark world.
It was YOU who made me smile.
For the first time in this game, I had hope.
All because of YOU.
The more powerful pieces on the board, however, were a threat to YOU and me.
They would win at any cost.
Two kings ruling with an iron fist.
Allies or opponents, it was hard to tell.
YOU promised to save me.
Told me we would win.
But then I was on the wrong side of the board.
This isn’t YOU, baby.
And I don’t know what to do.
The game is almost over and I’m counting on YOU.
Tick, tock…

So this is a love triangle of sorts. I have recently fell out of love with those thanks to some poorly written TV shows. *Coughs, #Scandal, #Younger, and to a lesser extent #Jane The Virgin (they got it together early). Anyhoo. . .
Once, I picked my Team. Team Devan. I skimmed the parts with Ren. I felt like Devan turned up the heat and the danger. I just wanted to know if my pick would work out or if he would end up being too good to be true. Which frankly didn’t matter because he was the most interesting part of the story.
Later, the scenes with Esteban had me in my feelings. I was calling out for Devan right along with the heroine. I was so emotionally distraught that I had to take a break.
Book 4 is a cliffhanger and it is quite the dozy. I actually teared up a lil bit. Onward to book 2. This was totally by accident. I blame the order in which I bought them to how I ended up reading them out of order.
Spoiler: Anyone else surprised when Heath didn’t rape her (the first time). And instead spanked her, I was like that was a good twist.
